World Sustainability Day

On World Sustainability Day, people from all over the world have the chance to learn more about the issue and unite to discuss ways to advance sustainability. An essential part of keeping a sustainable ecosystem is recycling. Recycling gives future generations the materials and energy they need to keep the earth happy and healthy. The purpose of Sustainability Day is to raise community awareness of the value of protecting the environment and the actions that may be taken to accomplish so. Take shorter showers, ride your bike instead of driving your car, establish a composting program, and donate clothing that you haven't worn in months. The list is endless! You may live sustainably every day in a variety of ways.

World Water Day

Accelerating change to address the water and sanitation problem is the goal of World Water Day. There are still billions of people whose human rights to water and sanitation are not being met, as well as innumerable companies, farms, schools, hospitals, and other facilities. Change must be accelerated immediately in order to move past "Business As Usual." Everyone is impacted by water, thus everyone must act. Participating in the global campaign "Be The Change" can help you do your bit by inspiring individuals to take personal responsibility for altering their water use, consumption, and management practices. Together with broader commitments from governments, businesses, organizations, institutions, and coalitions, these pledges from people and communities will support the Water Action Agenda.

Climate Equity: Women As Agents Of Change

The National Commission on Status of Women and UNDP Pakistan collaborated to publish the report "Climate Equity: Women As Agents Of Change." The report's conclusions were reached after a thorough desk study of sectoral practices and policies, key informant interviews, and nationwide consultation sessions held in Pakistan's provincial capitals, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. A wide range of gender and climate change experts were brought together for these consultations, including policymakers, government officials, business leaders, community-based organization's, academics, and media representatives. In order to improve resilience and lessen vulnerability for women who rely on natural surroundings for their livelihoods and sustenance, the research makes policy recommendations.

Lahore Ranked As The Most Polluted City In The World

With the Air Quality Index (AQI) rating varying from 166 to 279 in various parts of the city on Saturday, Lahore once again held the title of Most Polluted City in the World as the Smog Season returned. The provincial capital has the worst air quality in the world, according to the most recent data collected by a number of government and commercial monitors. Beijing, Dhaka, Milan, Shenyang, Seattle, Zagreb, Portland, Karachi, and Vancouver are next in line. Kot Lakhpat had the worst air pollution, with an AQI rating of about 279, according to real-time data published by the US Air Quality Monitoring Agency IQ Air.

The provincial capital's air quality ranged from bad to extremely unhealthy for people and animals in various locales. The World Health Organization's (WHO) annual air quality guideline value is currently 16.8 times lower than the average PM2.5 concentration in Lahore's air. According to air quality data published by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Lahore, the current weather pattern suggests that there is a possibility that suspended particles will build up in the atmosphere over the next two days, potentially impairing visibility. During that time, the Lahore region's AQI can also stay within the "Unhealthy For Sensitive Group" range. Smog was first brought to light in 2017 when the Punjab Environment Protection Council adopted an AQI Classification System and authorized a Smog Action Plan in response to a court order. But even after five years have passed, the Punjab Environment Protection Department's air quality report still states that it uses either inexpensive sensors or a mobile van to monitor the province capital's air quality. Despite persistent public concerns, the agency has not been able to acquire the necessary equipment, so it lacks a system for a standard and professional Air Quality Monitoring System.
